Overview
The Access to HE Diploma (Data Science) is a full Level 3 academic credit-based qualification, regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and awarded by AIM, a leading awarding body in the UK.
The diploma has academic demands equivalent to those of A-levels and international Baccalaureates, and is designed to prepare learners for entry into higher education in the UK.
Highly respected and acknowledged throughout both the further education and higher education sectors, Access to HE Diplomas provide the knowledge and skills needed to progress to study at a UK university or college, enabling students to succeed in higher education.
An academic, credit based qualification
The credit requirement to achieve the diploma is 60 credits spread across 15 mandatory units, with 45 credits coming from 11 graded units concerned with academic content at Level 3, and 15 credits come from 4 ungraded units also at Level 3.
Each unit is worth either 3 credits or 6 credits, with a 3-credit unit requiring 30 hours of study, and a 6-credit unit requiring 60 hours of study.
Studying the diploma
For this version of the diploma, students will need to study for 600 hours over 12 months as part of a group of students.
We provide 150 hours of class-room based teaching, typically delivered as 5 hours per week, over 3 terms of 10 weeks. The remaining 75% (450 hours) of learning is distance learning with full e-tutor support.

If you successfully complete all the assessment requirements (ie you attain all 60 credits) of the Access to HE Diploma (Data Science), you will receive a Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) recognised Access to HE Diploma at level 3 (QAA ref: 40014058) awarded by the AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group.
